Step 1: Open the FreePPP Setup application — this is located on your hard disk.

Step 2: On the General tab click on Open TCP/IP and make sure that you have selected FreePPP as the Connect via option. Close the window and save the settings.

Step 3: Click on the Accounts tab and click on New.

Step 4: From the Accounts tab configure the settings as follows:

  • Account name: Ideal
  • Connection: Directly
  • User name: your username (as shown in the table below)

Step 5: Click the Dialup tab. Leave the area code field blank. In the Phone Number field, enter your local access number, as well as the area code (if required), and any codes needed (such as *70, to turn off call waiting or 9 to reach an outside line).

Step 6: Click on OK.

Step 7: Select the Modems tab, and double-click on the modem in the list.

Step 8: Set the options as follows:

  • Connected to: Modem Port or Internal modem
  • Port Speed: For a 33.6 modem, select 38400. For a 56K modem, select 57600.
  • Flow Control: CTS and RTS (DTR)
  • Dial Type: Tone

Step 9 : Click OK.
